Hola Tyndal, no está equivocado por lo que he podido ver en la reseña que dices pone lo siguiente:
As frontispiece to his Elements
of geology (1838) he, too, produced an idealized cross-section of the
crust of the earth (Figure 6); it was reminiscent of the Webster-Buckland chart,
but in its details proposed the non-progressivist theory of the contemporaneous
origin of the four great classes of rocks (aqueous, volcanic, metamorphic and
plutonic). Lyell redrew his former teacher’s map in support of a uniformitarian,
open-ended perception of geological history.
Already in his Principles of geology
(vol. i, 1830), Lyell had used visual representation to argue for the absence
of a distinct beginning of earth history, by publishing a base-cut-out version of
the tabular-textual stratigraphic table...
Dice que la representación aparece tanto en Elementes of Geology como en Principles of Geology, pero está última es anterior y fue el libro que se llevó Darwin en su viaje alrededor del mundo...
